GCSE results day 4awebWe were reasonably pleased with our first set of GCSE results. Over a quarter of all the grades was a grade 7, 8 or the new grade 9; in addition, almost three-quarters of that unique first cohort achieved at least 5 good GCSE passes.

Stand out results included Kate Lally who gained 7 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s, Mildred Akpabio-Klementowska who gained 11 of the top two grades, Mohammed Rasoul who with his 5 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s also got an A** (double star!) for his Further Mathematics examination and Isabel Alves Short who gained 10 GCSEs at the top grades.

With GCSEs now more difficult, it was very pleasing to see so many of our first year 11 cohort attain the highest GCSE grades, with a number of individuals gaining grades 7-9 in each of their ten subjects. There were also a number of real success stories involving students who had to overcome some significant challenges in order to get the grades they did.

Our students’ success is a result of many factors, not least the dedication and hard work of our staff. We also appreciated the support of parents; acknowledging and highlighting the invaluable partnership that helps to generate positive outcomes for young people.
