First day1webFirst day17WebThere were lots of smiling faces and pristine uniforms on show as St Richard Reynolds welcomed its fifth cohort of Year 7 and Reception pupils to the College. Mr Burke welcomed them to our College community with inspiring words of encourgment as they began a new chapter in their lives. Mr Burke gave every new pupil and member of staff a pebble as a momento of their first day and of the journey that brought them to this point. The new pupils had the whole day to settle in and find their bearings before the remainder of the pupils returned the following day. Good luck Year 7 and Reception!

Primary Sports17

On Friday 14th July we went to St Mary’s University to do our sports day. First we all went into different groups and did different circuits. We earned points for our houses and we all got a sticker on our P.E. clothes to show which house we are in. Then we did the over under relay and our parents and grandparents came to watch and were cheering us on. Next was the javelin and we had to throw it as far as we could. The high school students judged who threw it the furthest. Finally were the sprinting races. The children went first and then the adults had a race with the children.

After the events had finished we had a picnic outside with all our parents and our families who came to watch. After the picnic the results were announced. The points were really close and as follows:

1st- Elizabeth: 609 points
2nd- Moses: 590 points
3rd- Noah: 571 points
4th- Hannah: 565 points
5th- Peter: 534 points
6th- Mary Magdalene: 521 points

Elizabeth won and were given the trophy.

All of us enjoyed the sports day and had lots of fun. We can’t wait for the next one!

We want to say a huge thank you to all the P.E. teachers (Miss Byrne, Miss Sanders, Mr Whitfield and Miss McKnight) and the Year 9 pupils for helping all of us in the sports day.

Year9CompParents, students, staff, governors and friends gathered at the Live Room, Twickenham Stadium for the Year 9 Celebration. The music specialism of the College was on show as the guests were greeted with music and song from many talented students. Following anopening prayer from Father Nigel, Year 9 walked us through a truly incredible 3-year journey, with lots of highlights, achievements and experiences shared with their peers, families and staff. More musically gifted students sang for us and parents were thanked for their commitment to their children. Friends were thanked for their laughter and love and Mr Burke shared his hopes for the future. We were given our Record of Achievements, accompanied by some more wonderful piano and guitar music and Mrs Tyler spoke of the kindness, compassion and generosity of the Year group. Joe and Honor rounded off the evening by thanking everyone; inviting them to take a look at the wonderful displays. Many thnals to everyone who helped make the evening so memorable.

Heavy rain led to the cancellation of last year's sports day but mercifully, the weather remained dry throughout a action-packed morning at St Mary's University. Pupils took part in a variety of sports including traditional track and field events mixed in with some adrenaline-packed activities to suit all abilities: archery, cycling time trial, welly wanging, catapult firing to name a few.

Support for the track events was second to none as the pupils packed the final 100m stretch to roar on their house mates to the finishing line. In the background our Tug-of-War competition proved to be a real winner with pupils as they looked to catch the opposition off guard at the start of each match and gain the upper hand.

Huge thanks must go to all the staff who ran events in the morning and also to our guests Adrian, Mac, Duncan and Terence who ran the archery, cycling time trial and welly wanging respectively.

Congratulations to St Martin de Porres House who won the the Sports Day 2017 house competition trophy and well done to all the pupils who took part on the day, supported and congratulated friends when they competed and contributed to a creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout the morning. Roll on our 2018 event.

"It was event was an absolute pleasure to be involved in.  And, with four year groups for the first time, it proved to be an action-packed morning." said Matt Whitfield , Director of PE.
