St Richard Reynolds Sixth Form

 Opens September 2018

St Richard Reynolds RBWe are thrilled to be embarking on the next phase of the development of St Richard Reynold’s Catholic College as we prepare to open the Sixth Form in September 2018.  We see our Sixth Form as the pinnacle of a student’s College career and are keen to ensure that the experience provided fully prepares students for the next phase of their lives.  We welcome applications from our current students as well as those who are new to us but keen to join our community.

As with the entire College journey, we want to be measured by academic success and the Sixth Form is no different.  Our students will be supported to achieve their potential principally through outstanding learning and teaching and tailored pastoral support; something the College already prides itself on.  In addition to this, as a Catholic College, the students will have planned and more informal opportunities for worship and spiritual growth throughout their Sixth Form careers.  We are looking forward to being able to continue to provide an outstanding Catholic education to our students from the age of 16.

Through a well-balanced curriculum of academic courses including A Levels and BTECs, independent study and a wider enrichment programme, we are confident that our students will have a wealth of quality post-18 opportunities available to them including top flight apprenticeships, universities and promising careers.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated Sixth Form space within the newly built section of our site and will be involving our current students in its design to ensure that it meets their needs for study and socialising which will make it distinct from the rest of the College.  It is important to us that students will make memories in the Sixth Form which will last a lifetime and therefore, support and encourage them in the next, more independent, phase of their lives.

We will be placing more information about the plans for the Sixth Form on this page over the coming months.  Please visit again in May when we plan to publish the curriculum offered and further details of the application process.

Admissions to Sixth Form 2018

As a voluntary aided school, the governing body has sole responsibility for admissions to this school and intends to admit up to 150 students to the sixth form (Year 12) in September 2018. This number includes students currently on the school roll who meet the required, school-determined, academic qualifications for their chosen course and who wish to be admitted to the sixth form.

The governors welcome applications from students at other schools and intend to admit a minimum of 30 students from other schools who meet the required, school-determined, academic qualifications for their chosen course but where there are more applicants than places available, priority will be given to the school’s current students, provided that they meet the required, school-determined, academic qualifications for their chosen course.

Minimum Academic Requirements Applicants will be required, as a general rule, to have achieved the following criteria to be able to be admitted to the sixth form at the school.

(a) at least 5 GCSE passes at grade 5 or higher (including English Language and Mathematics)

(b) Met the individual ‘A’ level subject requirement
