At St Richard Reynolds every child is given the opportunity to participate in high quality PE and to achieve their full potential. We provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident and give them the tools to help them lead a healthy active lifestyle. We give opportunities to compete in all sports, to be competitive and take part in physically-demanding activities.

The national curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
are physically active for sustained periods of time
engage in competitive sports and activities
lead healthy, active lives.

We offer through the curriculum and in after school clubs many sports including: Athletics, Basketball, Cross Country, Dance, Football, Swimming, Gymnastics, Hockey, Rounders, Tag Rugby, Netball, Handball. In KS2 all children are given the opportunity to swim. Our aim is that all children leave our school at the end of Year 6 able to swim 25 metres.

High school specialist teachers support the delivery of the PE curriculum as well as providing CPD for staff.
