At St Richard Reynolds, we strive to give all pupils the opportunity to learn another language and at the same time gain a better understanding of the diversity of our world. Languages is a compulsory subject for KS2 under the 2014 National Curriculum. At St Richard Reynolds, we learn French in EYFS, KS1 and KS2. The curriculum is delivered by one of our High School Specialists from our Language Department.

We aim to provide our pupils with a multicultural understanding and a firm foundation for continued language learning as they progress to secondary education and beyond. We have a rich and broad curriculum to motivate the pupils and enable them to develop their language skills and their intercultural understanding.

With collaboration from parents and the whole community, we have implemented initiatives to celebrate the variety of languages spoken by the children, for example:Multilingual storytelling and a Cultural Assembly led by parents.
